The licensing verification system allows free version distribution and instant migration from free to full licensed mode without changes required on client side.
Flash checks connection on session startup in background while it also loads user login details so it doesn't slow the load process. License verification is done from client side and does not load your server in any way.
Currently there are 2 different physical license servers with 99.99% uptime guarantee each. At least 1 must be available for license to be validated fast so there's 1 in 100 000 000 estimated downtime. If needed we can add more in the future and improve the odds.
If you get a lot of hits and your business takes off you can upgrade to an unlimited independent license or even purchase the full source code for further development.
